Are You Confused?

Maybe it's just the beginnings of Alzheimer's, but I am confused.  The Republicans are willing to shut down the government in order to stop the ACA which opened up exchanges yesterday and enrolled lots of Americans who did not have any health insurance on September 30th.  So, hasn't that horse left the barn?  Why keep trying to take away all options for millions of people?  If those representatives are hearing from a MAJORITY of their constituents that they object to the Act, they can act rationally to change the act in ways that Democrats and Republicans can agree on.

I truly believe that social media will play a major role in denying these politicians a return trip to Washington when their elections come up.  Remember who voted against the budget, and say No to them in November!

Obesity Action

Now here's a good idea - Banner Health Weight loss Center is sponsoring a walk in the park this Saturday at Freestone Park in Gilbert, Arizona.  Walkers can complete as many laps as they see fit.

It's time to bring the problem of obesity out of the category of "unmentionable" health issues and do something about it publicly.  We dare not call anyone fat; we tell our children that it's rude.  Even the nurses at my doctor's office are fat.  There is no other word for it.  But talking about "obesity action" seems to have become acceptable.  Maybe when clothing manufacturers start labeling large sizes Obese, More Obese, and Disgustingly Obese, maybe some changes will be made.

Get Involved - Send a Tweet!

I am a novice when it comes to social media, but as you know if you read this blog, I am an "information junkie."  Today I was watching "The Stream" on Current TV and the topic was the growing problem of babies born with addiction to opiates because their mothers are users.  On this show viewers are encouraged to send tweets to the commentators and be involved on the show.

Because I feel very strongly about the issue of drugs in our country, I sent the following tweet:

I was so excited to see my tweet on the screen!  Try it, get involved, send your tweet!

High School Musical 4 - Troy Goes to Rehab

So sad to learn about Zac Efron's recent stint in rehab.  Drugs are so accessible in our neighborhoods, our schools, and on the streets, it's amazing that anyone under the age of 30 can say they've never done drugs.  And when you're a superstar, everyone is trying to please you, some of them no doubt by sharing drugs with you. It wouldn't surprise me to learn that hosts at parties in Hollywood offer cocaine  to guests like we offer chips and dip to ours.

Zac needs to meet someone, get married, and have a family.  Joe Walsh said he couldn't stay clean until he found something he wanted more than he wanted to get high.  When you look at your children and see how much they need you that can often be the motivation to give up the partying.

We lost Cory Monteith; I  pray we don't lose Zac.
